Peter Minshall

I am taking a Caribbean art course this semester, and I think I have found my favorite artist from the region. This phenomenal artist/designer is Peter Minshall, a native to Trinidad. He does large-scale costumes for Carnival, often winning Carnival King. I chose Minshall because his works are pretty damn impressive! His wearable pieces give me a lot of ideas for my own wearable artwork. Just take a look at these over-the-top costumes that can almost be considered sculptures.

And some videos. These pieces have to be seen in motion to fully appreciate them;

Greece-y Situation

Pardon the bad pun/play on words.

As most of you know, there is a small volcanic eruption in Iceland that is clouding most of Europe and preventing air travel. The last time this particular volcano erupted it spewed for about 2 years. Two freakin' years!!! If this eruption is anything like its predecessor, I will most likely not be going to Greece this summer. What does that mean? It means no Acropolis Museum, no Rhodos, no delicious food, no cool photos, no laughable sunburns, and less cultural confusion.

And So It Begins

I will be entering my senior year of college soon, which means senior seminar! I'll be posting various artists of interest, progress on projects, thoughts and musings, and a chinchilla in a viking helmet.

It's going to be an interesting academic year, so keep watching.
